Badge Tours Written by Taxibot X, edited by Taxibot 2
Badge Tours are held weekly. However, the day changes from week to week. this is to help ensure that 'bots who are busy on Wednesdays (for example) aren't forced to miss every event. Usually a poll will be posted after each week's BT to help figure out when the next one will be held.
But what is a Badge Tour?
A Badge Tour is simple enough to understand once it gets going, but takes a little bit of explanation beforehand. A group of 'bots (not more than 7) form a team and station themselves at different badge sites throughout a zone. One team member (most often the Team Leader) sends a message over broadcast, advertising the tour. When a fare is interested, the TL invites them and the tour begins!
Before a BT starts, some preparation is needed.
A)Knowing where the badges are
If you can't find the badges, then there is no Tour. Here are some helpful links for finding them:
Artphobia's Badge Info - Location descriptions, coordinates, and the in-game badge text.
Paragon City by VidiotMaps - All the badges are marked on these online copies of the in-game maps.
B) Macros
are not required, but exceedingly useful on a BT.
1. First up is my TP macro, warning the target I'm about to 'port him/her.
2. Next is the description macro for whatever badge I'm manning. You can use the in-game text, or you can mix it up a bit. Humor and creativity are greatly encouraged. Have fun with it, and your fares (and fellow 'bots) will too.
3. Finally, there is my "Next!" macro, to let the next 'bot in line know I'm all set and they're up.
C) 'Port order
Establishing a 'port order is key to avoiding confusion. Establish this before the first fare is accepted, and stick to it while possible. If you've got one more 'bot than there are badges in the zone, place the last person in the order at the tram, to offer a safe exit to the fares. If they're a buffer, the fares will appreciate it even more.
D) Chatter
There is a lot of downtime on BTs and cabbies are a chatty bunch. Try to keep any general chatter to the SG channel and just use the team channel for tour-related messages (your macros, "incoming," etc).
Once these are established, tours will fly by.
Weekly Badge Tours generally last for about 2 hours, in my experience, but really any amount of time is fine.
