All lined up on top of the globe.

Here's how you get into the SG.
1. Be in synch with the information listed in the What It Takes section.
2. Have Recall Friend.
3. Have a Live Journal account on livejournal.com.
4. Ask one of the Dispatchers or Charters for an invite. Check out the rosters.
The above requirements may vary from server to server. Ask a Dispatcher or Charter in the garage you'd like to join for specifics.

What's a Dispatcher? What's a Charter?
There are three ranks in the Paragon Taxi Service (PTS):
3. Cabbies - New members.
2. Charters - Members who have shown to be true-blue PTS Cabbies.
1. Dispatchers - Those who started the PTS garages on their servers and those who have significantly contributed to helping PTS be a better Super Group.

Once you have been invited to PTS, please don't ask to be promoted. When Charters and Dispatchers are asked to promote someone, it makes them not want to promote whoever is asking. All deserving Cabbies will be recognized for their behaviors and promoted or demoted when the higher-ups think it's time.

What?! Demoted!? What do you mean?
Sometimes a "lemon" might find its way into the fleet and funk up the works for the good eggs in the garage. This is how we deal with those types:

First offense: The offending taxi is told what he or she did wrong and is asked to read or re-read "What it takes to be a Cabbie."

Second offense: The offending taxi is told what he or she did wrong and is demoted to a lower rank if possible.

Third offense: The offending taxi is told what he or she did wrong and is then kicked from PTS.

Well, what would I get a warning for?
You'd get a warning for displaying any behavior that goes against what it takes to be a PTS taxi or for making any or all of the PTS taxis look bad. Some of these activities include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Demanding payment for your services or bad-mouthing anyone who doesn't tip.
2. Deliberately trying to cause damage to, annoy, or play tricks on other heroes.
3. Broadcasting disagreements over public chat channels.

One More Thing
A new policy regarding inactivity has been adopted as of January 1, 2005 due to the popularity of the concept. Taxis who are inactive for 30 days or more get their pink slips. They are sent an in-game email reminding them of the policy. The email also tells them they are welcome to re-join the garage - all they have to do is ask.

How the heck did it all start?
Near the beginning of October 2004, my roomate (Taxibot 1 on Virtue) had an idea for him and me to play Taxis on City of Heroes. It sounded like fun to me so I made Taxibot 2. We both introduced our new characters on the LJ and CoH Forums after that first night of playing. We simply meant to drum up some interest so more people would be aware we were out there, ready to taxi heroes to a safe and well-traveled place such as the Yellow Line in Steel Canyon. Other players thought this sounded like a great idea and became taxis themselves. Taxibot 2 got up to Level 10 pretty quickly so I could form the Super Group Paragon Taxi Service. There were about 10 members in the SG after the first day of forming it. About a week later there were over 40 taxis on the Virtue server and many more on other servers. Taxibot 1 and I are just amazed at the wonderful and positive responses the taxis are getting.
